Here are some products I recommend for your current poodle or up and coming puppy! I use many of these for our dogs and puppies! These products can be purchased elsewher too, but Amazon links are ez!
Crates
I strongly recommend crate training. A 42 or 48 inch wire crate with a divider will grow with your pup! A soft carrier is good for older poodles or travel. In a car, the safest place is a crash tested crate. I use intermediate or large Ruff tough kennels in the car.
Grooming Supplies
An excellent basic poodle comb with fine and wide teeth. The spinning pins loosen tangles and dead coat!
This is a high end professional quality comb that isnt for pulling at matting, but for weekly/daily use
A soft slicker brush that is excellent for puppy coats or show coats! The black one is a budget option that still works well.
This brush is wildly popular with poodle people. I have another I like better, but they are currently out of stock.
Brushout spray conditions the coat, reduces static, and helps combs glide through the coat more easily. It also reduces drying time when sprayed on a damp coat after bathing!
Clipping nails every week/every other week is important. This professional quality trimmer clips well without crushing the nail like lower end clippers.
The original book is still the best! All you need to know to take on your poodles grooming including pet and show coat care.
This all purpose shampoo is pro quality and can be diluted based on your needs. Cleans oily poodle coats well, leaving them lifted and shiny. Also helps them dry faster! The Hyponic shampoo is an amazing Korean shampoo - your puppy comes home with this amazing lasting scent on them! The Hyponic volumizing is what I use for scissoring or show coats. I love the strong scent.
Cleaning ears is important! This product cleans well, and the hydrocortisone gel works well for a problematic ear. Always see a vet for ear infections.
Many poodle owners choose to bathe at home. Drying them completely is essential to mat prevention. Air drying creates cords/mats. This dryer is a quiet, powerful workhorse I use in my salon at an excellent price for the quality.
You may want to clip your poodles face, feet, and tail in between 8 week pro grooming visits. This clipper has a blade that gets replaced when dull that can be set for #10 on face, genitals, and tops of feet; and #40 for pads. It is used by both pet owners and professionals. Its quiet and powerful. I've added a link to the replacement blade and clip combs for that clipper if you want to do light body clipping.
Flea and Tick Prevention
For flea and tick monthly treatments. I DO NOT recommend products like Bravecto, Nexguard. Sometimes the old reliable, tested and safe for breeding dogs option is best.
For flea, tick, and mosquito repellant for your yard! We spray this natural product every 5 weeks in the summer, and never find ticks! We love that it repels mosquitos too!
Durable toys are important for poodles. They also need to chew to feel satisfied. Our dogs like these:
Dog Food
Dog foods we feed and recommend- we switch foods every 3 to 4 months for variety and health. We do not recommend ANY grain free kibbles.
Training and Socialization Books
Continue what I've started with socialization, clicker training, and desensitization. Poodles are active working dogs who require exercise of body AND mind. A trained poodle is happy and so is their household!
